The World Is Beautiful
Albert Renger-Patzsch
In the 1920's a number of German photographers that were linked to the social, political and artistic movement were referred as 'Neue Sachlichkeit' meaning new objective or new realism, which the new objectivity had tried to change the view point perspective on the development of photography than just the dark room experiments. Around the 1925's the term 'Neue Sachlichkeit' was originally applied by Gustav Hartlaub and directed by the director Mannheim Art Gallery.
These are some of Renger's images that he has taken throughout his life, he has mostly focused on photographing industrial and mass type objects. He was mostly interested in photographing
Analysis
The reason why I have chosen these images is because they both link to each other in some ways and they are, that both of the images are in black and white by doing this you can see the different types of tone within the image and also that the architect has used repetition when designing the building this is because its aesthetically pleasing and also giving it another setting.
First Set Of Images
I was inspired by how Renger-Patzsch has taken he's images this is because if you realise that there is a sequence in his pictures which were that there was repetition. Meanwhile,

Evaluation
I have begun this unit by researching different types of photographers that have worked with a range of methods and techniques to express the formal elements of photography such as; light, colour, texture, tone and etc. The artists that I have researched Vivian Maier, I have discovered him with the help of my teachers and also it was our first lesson so she was the starter of our research. By studying this photographer, I was able to label out the different types of formal elements she had used within one image. The other photographer that I had researched was Francesca Woodman, what I have learnt by looking at her images and doing research about her is that he takes images focusing on the four corners of the image and making sure there isn’t anything unnecessary inside it, and she also keeps it under 4 things inside the images. Another thing I have learnt by looking at her images is that I have notice is takes a lot of naked images trying to create a type of pattern which is a zigzag and her images was all taken in black and white maybe because she wanted to set a different type of setting to the image or give it a mood so when the audience view the image they would think to themselves and ask why has she done this? What was she trying to do? Etc.… The artists that I have researched Renger-Patzsch, I had discovered him with the help of my teacher as he gave us the photographer and we had to do some research about him and about his work. Which was to check out his images that he has taken throughout his journey in life. By studying Renger-Patzsch I have learnt that I have to focus on the 4 corners of my single image, this is because by focusing on that particular part you would know what’s in your image and the audience will know what they are focusing on and what they are looking at. The second thing that I have learnt by studying this photographer is by focusing on the different type of setting. With one of his images that he has taken he has used; geometric, man mad, rhythm, pattern and etc.
The experiments that I have tried out within this unit is by using my photographers as inspiration, and taking images that link into their theme. But for now I have only taken images with the DSLR camera and then converted my images into black and white this is because I believe that by doing this you can get a different type of mood, and that mood could be anything it will all depend on the object that you have taken for example if you have taken a picture of a flower and converted it into black and white you would feel a bit sad due to that you would think its dying because of the colours and also because its hasn’t got no movement in the image. With me I don’t really concentrate on what I take, I just take it so it would become a memory so that’s what I done with the images that I have taken with the responses to my photographers but it didn’t really work out the way I wanted it to, so to improve it I did what they done and that was by really looking at the image and focusing on each corner to make sure there isn’t anything unnecessary inside it. The only image that had worked well was the ones that I had focused on really well and took some times looking at the image and making sure it was the image that I wanted to take.
For my final outcomes I wanted to create a set of images that documented the steps of my life. The thing I love about taking pictures is that you can take whatever you want, from whatever angle. Even just taking pictures from random by even come out well, and that’s what I love about photography take whatever pictures you want a picture of you, of your friends and family and etc. The thing that is personal about my work is that the images all belong to me and also the images that I have taken they all are taken within my environment and that’s what it makes it more special and personal to me which all the images links to me in some sort of way. What I hope for when the viewers view my images is that they realise what they of person and the type of photographer I am just by looking at one set of images. If I had more time I would of went in deeper to take more images that had linked to me and the photographer that I was responding to, and I would have done this by taking more images from different categories which could be; nature, landscape, people and etc. Just by taking more images and expanding them it would have helped me more by choosing it for my final outcome. Another thing that I would of loved to try if I had the time it would have been to take images with film and not just one type of film, many different of them this is because then I could experience it and see the differences between them so if I ever get to the point of someone asking me what’s the difference of the films I would tell them straight away but for me to do that I have to experiment with the films and take my own images for me to see the difference.
